Nokia sees profits fall, new competition in emerging markets

Some Info On Google Androids Honeycomb

The Android has a new OS called Honeycomb that is apparently looking quite amazing. Google's vice president of engineering in charge of Android had this to say in a recent blog post:

Honeycomb is the next version of the Android platform, designed from the ground up for devices with larger screen sizes, particularly tablets. We've spent a lot of time refining the user experience in Honeycomb, and we've developed a brand-new, truly virtual and holographic user interface. Many of Android's existing features will really shine on Honeycomb: refined multitasking, elegant notifications, access to over 100,000 apps on Android Market, home screen customization with a new 3D experience, and redesigned widgets that are richer and more interactive. We've also made some powerful upgrades to the Web browser, including tabbed browsing, form auto-fill, syncing with your Google Chrome bookmarks, and incognito mode for private browsing.

CNET did a really good overview of Honeycomb that's definitely worth the read. Check it out here. This new Android OS, and whatever tablet runs it, may wind up giving the iPad a run for it's money.

Could The Verizon iPhone Knock Out The Android

When the iPhone 4 was only available through AT&T, it allowed other carriers to feature other smartphones. for example, Verizon was able to really focus on the Android because it was the top smartphone available to Verizon clients.

Now that the iPhone is available to Verizon customers, could this mark the end of the Android and other smartphones?

Facebook Coming Out With Cell Phone

Looks like Facebook is gonna get in on the cell phone market. Londons City AM announced today that smartphone manufacturer HTC will launch 2 Facebook branded cell phones.

HTC is due to make the announcement of the phones at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.

Apparently, the phone is expected to run on a slightly modified version of Google Androids OS. The home screen will feature the Facebook users profile content and messages. HTC has come up with a draft of the phone that features the color scheme and logo of the social media giant.
